Affinity on Mac hardware acceleration requirements?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I couldn't find that through google, always got pointed at windows requirements. So what GPUs are supported on mac?

I had an opportunity to get an older machine with intel iris 5200, is hardware acceleration working with it?

Current Workstation:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 - MOBO: Asus B450 - RAM: 16GB DDR4 2667Mhz - GPU: AMD Radeon 7850 1GB
NVMe SSD: Crusial P3 1TB M.2 -  SSD: Samsung Evo 850 256GB  - PSU: XFX TS450 - OS: Win10

You would have more luck getting an answer to your question if you included the make, type and year of the Mac. I am not going to check which card is in my 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro but I can say for certain that that one doesn't support the GPU.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Macbook Pro 2014 15" Intel 4770QH 16GB RAM with Iris 5200. I asked specifically for the GPU because there is a similar model with nVidia discreet GPU.

Should work Ok with the Affinity defaults, at least under MacOS Catalina. - Can't tell for Big Sur/Monterey since I don't use those.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
