BlueSailing Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Would you take a look at the 2 attached files. I think I'm failing to do something fairly simple in the Data Merge Process. I'm able to successfully pair the fields in my document with the matching fields in the Fields Palette. But when I Generate the new document, it only pulls 8 source sets out of about 60 in the source file. More troubling is that when I Generate the doc, it Generates 260 pages, each containing a repeat of those 8 source sets. Thanks for your great support, as always! Old Bruce Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 First of all you don't have a header row in the TSV file. Why the thing isn't working I don't know. The Publisher file you attached is a Generated file, I would need to see the document that generated it. Here are a TSV and Publisher file to look at. I didn't include the Picture frames because I didn't have the pictures. Dan C Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 As Bruce mentioned, your test file TSV is missing a header row with titles for the data merge such as FirstName, LastName etc etc, whilst this won't solve the issue it will certainly make managing your project easier. You can edit this in Excel/Google sheets etc. Looking across your document, your first frame at the top left has fields associated with it, but the remaining entries on each page are manually typed. They all need to be fields, you could do this manually but it would take a while, so I would advise taking a look at this small tutorial which includes an efficient method of replicating frames across the document for a merge. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/494072789/ BlueSailing 1 Quote
BlueSailing Posted June 14, 2022 Author Posted June 14, 2022 Thanks Bruce and Lee! I added the header row and played around with Bruce's files and started over from scratch. I think the problem may have had something to do with my file being a multi-layered document. At any rate, I'm good. Thanks again! Quote
