Text > Text Styles > Save Text Styles As default vs....

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping to clarify what the difference is between using:

  1. Text > Text Styles > Save Text Styles As default and
  2. ( Edit > Defaults > Synchronise with Selection + Edit > Defaults > Save )

…when managing Text Style defaults.

True/false: 1) is application defaults, and 2) is document defaults?

True/false: the moment a user creates Text Styles, they are creating 2) anyway, wthout touching Text > Text Styles > Save Text Styles As default?

Thank you

Words are crude implements, difficult to get perfect, easy to get tied in knots with, and often - usually - misunderstood, which is why 'tolarence' is the best word of all.

The word "professional" fits us all - amateur, semi-pro, beginner, advanced, middle, beyond it all, and on....., because professionals are tolerant.

#1 defines the Text Styles that will exist, and the user can choose from, in new documents.

#2 sets default characteristics for new objects that are created.

For your questions: False, and False.

The following refers to Publisher

This refers to the Paragraph and Character styles. Going forward the Paragraph and Character styles that are available in the Text Styles panel are the ones which will available to you with new documents made from a Preset. A template file (*.aftemplate) will have the Paragraph and Character styles that were in the document when the template file was made by using File > Export as Template....

This saves your formatted paragraph as the [No Style] Paragraph and Character styles. For all ongoing new documents, and any new text items made in the current document.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
