Robert Gibson PWES Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Hi guys! So apparently, my client wants his page numbers spelled out in words. Not 1,2,... but ONE, TWO .... I looked at the Section Manager of the Pages panel but there doesn't seem to be a native way of doing this. None of the formatting of the Page Number field options allows for what he wants. Is there a trick to this or do I have to manually add these numbers? I'm not looking forward to that as an option... Quote
GarryP Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 I’m pretty sure that Publisher cannot do what you want. However, someone might be able to come up with a clever alternative solution. Quote

Robert Gibson PWES Posted June 9, 2022 Author Posted June 9, 2022 Data Merge .... okay I'll look into this. Thanks for the nudge! 1 minute ago, carl123 said: Data Merge. Quote
Old Bruce Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Not Data Merge but a text file with the words written out on separate lines then that text file placed into the Page Number Text Frame which is linked to the next Page Number Text Frame. Post Script: Tell your client that according to Old Bruce his readers will curse him/her for insisting on this. Old Bruce Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Is page 1234 "One Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty-four" or "Twelve Hundred and Thirty-four"? Yes, it’s separate words, but when whole numbers between 0 and 99 are written in words they’re always either single (e.g. fourteen) or hyphenated (e.g. thirty-four). 1 hour ago, thomaso said: I'd expect them to be "onethousandtwohundredthirtyfour", looks more like a page number. 🤓 Unlike German, English isn’t an agglutinative language, so we keep the words separate (e.g. „Zwetschgenkuchen“ is plum cake, not plumcake). thomaso 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)

I tried it and my Publisher crashed. (I have everything backed up just in case this time;) Quote

After what action does it crash? Can you show a video of putting text frames and crash? If you already have created all pages just paste the text into the accordingly linked master frame on page one and the text will flow. – If you want the page numbers auto-generate the required pages then paste the text in this frame and Shift-Click the triangular text flow symbol. Text flow and auto-generation of pages work independently of master pages, means also without a master page. auto-create pages.m4v Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
