GarryP
My attached image may give you some pointers. If that doesn’t explain it enough then just say which bit(s) you are stuck on. (There will be other ways to do it.)
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Possibly by lowering the Opacity of the text layer in the Layers panel? v_kyr
Load an image of your choice Draw a rectangle on top of the image and lower it's opacity in the layers panel to your desire Place some text on the rectangle (use a bold font for the text like Arail Black etc.) Copy the intial background image and clip the copy below the text, so the text letters are filled with the background image copy You can also combine steps here without copying the background image and instead make the text opaq, so step 4 isn't needed. Andy Pearson
It appears as though the replies are using designer and not publisher. Should I be doing this in Designer?
GarryP
Most, if not all, of the approaches given above can be used in any Affinity application. (If you have a preference for a particular application then it’s best to mention that in the original post.)

G13RL
Another solution: type the text above the rectangle, group the two and set the text blend to "Erase". Andy Pearson, Old Bruce, prophet and 1 other 3
