Affinity Photo 10.5 very slow on Macbook Pro 16" M1 Pro 16gb RAM

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Any idea why (or to whom do I address this:) why the beachball would pop up on every single thing I do on Affinity Photo?

File size is 10" x 8" with 300DPI. As mentioned on the title, Macbook Pro 16" M1 Pro 16gb RAM using Monterey 12.3.1

Everything is so slow and very frustrating. It's so unusable. Had to pull out an old laptop to do some work. I've had this software for a while so asking for a refund is out of the question.

Hi @Arvin J welcome to the forums,

I would initially suggest disabling Hardware Acceleration (The Last Checkbox) and Setting the Display setting to OpenGL/OpenGL(Basic) under Preferences > Performance and seeing if this reduces the beachballs after restarting.

If the problem persists after changing these settings, some users have found that disabling Automatic Brightness under Mac System Preferences > Display has resolved this.

I will try this out. Thank you.
