spinhead Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 [edit] In Photo:[/edit] How can I release a layer from a group using only the keyboard? I do funky stuff with groups all the time. I hate using the mouse when I don't have to. Extensive searching hasn't found anything useful. If I missed something let me know. Quote

Dan C Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 Hi @spinhead, You can assign a custom Keyboard Shortcut to Layer > Arrange > Move Outside (Designer & Publisher) or Arrange > Move Outside (Photo) to achieve this Old Bruce and spinhead 2 Quote

Puzzling that the context menu says "Release". Why would the same command have two different labels? Quote

What I meant was there is one function called by a Contextual Menu and another called by a Menubar Menu which can be assigned a Keyboard shortcut. They could be the same set of routines called or they could be different routines altogether. It is rather like taking two different roads to arrive a the same location, the directions are different but the destination is the same. Just trying to clarify if they are actually different tools, or if they really are exactly the same tool but with two different names based on which menu is in use. Quote

If I perform an operation on a given layer via the context menu, it is about releasing it from the group. If I perform some operation on the selected layer (s) via the menu, then it is an operation of moving the layer (s) somewhere, including the inverse operation Move Inside, where would the name Release / Unrelease? it was rather confusing. They "function" differently if you have a Designer document with an Artboard and objects on the Artboard Based on that, there may be other times they function differently R C-R and Old Bruce 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
