GrahamHCB
Any ideas on how to remove the lens flare from the attached photo, which I've cropped drastically only to hide the person's identity? I tried this tutorial using Frequency Separation in PS, but can't make it work in AP. Thanks in advance Graham
GrahamHCB
For some reason the link to the tutorial didn't show up. Here it is again:
GrahamHCB
Great so I can't post a link to YouTube here for some reason.
Madame
Hi, you have to use the "url function" when you post youtube links. It wont show when you just paste it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9niGvZClh8 (I can see the link when I quote you. ;) ) GrahamHCB 1 Quote - Affinity Photo 2.3.0 - Affinity Designer 2.3.0 -Affinity Publisher 2.3.0 MacBook Pro 16 GB MacOS Sonoma 14.1.
GrahamHCB
Thanks Madame, That was a clever trick. :) I totally forgot to use the url function so thanks again for that. Any ideas how to get rid of lens flare in AP? Graham
Madame
I would try the clone tool. Are you familiar with it? I don't think the Frequency Separation would work in this case, since the lens flare has caused blown out areas. (But I'm not sure. Maybe someone can chime in with some advice?) GrahamHCB
Yes I tried the Clone tool first and managed to remove some of the flare but couldn't replicate the texture, hence the idea of using Frequency Separation.
Madame
Yes, I see. But I think the frequency separation also needs som texture to work. Asha
I would try using a color balance or selective color correction layer with a mask for the larger flares.
GrahamHCB
Thanks for the suggestion Asha. I just had a look at both colour balance and selective colour adjustment layers but didn't get anywhere with them. Could you give me a rundown of the procedure you had in mind please? Asha
Create an adjustment layer above your original and apply some initial settings Add a layer mask to the adjustment layer Fill the layer mask with black Using a white brush on the layer mask, paint the areas where the lens flares exist You will need to experiment with the correction layer settings and the brush size and softness to suit your image. Once you have a good mask, you can fine tune the correction settings.
