Just starting my journey need help with this see picture

This is an "E"  but i can't make this part cut out to the background 

if this makes sense

Which app are you using?

I'm going to assume you are using Affinity Photo.

• Select both curves, I'm assuming the Parallelogram is a curve but it can be a shape as well and that it is above the main body of the 'e'
• Go to Layer > Geometry > Subtract or click on the Geometry Subtract icon on the main menu if it's showing 
  

Should be that simple.
