Where do you see that it's free to use, @kat? Looks like it costs at least 5 Euros, to me.

Anybody tired this? It's an image reference palette. Works on windows & Mac

Not myself, but it's recommended by people from the german media informatics ...

You want to organize and edit your pictures with just one tool in one central place? Media informatics students introduce PureRef to you in this video. PureRef is an image reference tool that gives users the ability to collect and organize images from the web or local computer. PureRef is available for all major operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux and is also completely free. The organization software shines, especially when it is used in combination with other programs, thanks to the always on top mode and the transparent view, the software can continue to work unobtrusively in the background. The website and online tutorials provide a good basis for beginners to learn the software

The video tells ...

Collect, structure and edit images on a kind of transparent MoodBoard. Drag'n'Drop images into the PureRef board, images can be rotated, cropped, resized, annotated and image selection arranged! - Always on top mode and transparent mode!

Note however, that most things in that PureRef have to be done with keyboard shortcuts (see here on bottom the default keybindings).

I reset that field to zero & then clicked outside the field & it now shows a Total of "Free." I did not actually try downloading it but it appears that it can be downloaded & installed for no cost.

Well it's an editable field and thus you can determine the donation contribution, if set to 0 you will get it free so far!

I will wager that negative numbers won't work.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

They usually shouldn't, though didn't tried, but who knows maybe they then donate something to you! 😉

As an alternative you can use IrfanView (Freeware). At least on Windows. It has an option to keep its image viewer window always on top. I sometimes used it as reference window when I painted with MyPaint. But most times I paint with ArtRage which has its own reference panel. Or even more than one if you need it.

I believe we already talked about it here in another thread some time ago.

It is a psychological trick that I know from other Freeware like e.g. Focus Writer too. They propose a price to appeal to your good conscience to pay at least a bit. Otherwise most people don't pay anything, even because many people can't assess what might be an appropriate price..
