DawidXT Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Hi guys! Is it just me, or this paid app doesn't have export to AI? Which for me is crucial file format. I purchased the app on my iPad, to work on it on the go, and continue my work on main computer. But I see that's not possible. More, there is a free app "Vectornator", which exports to AI (sends file to creative cloud, to convert it to AI), and so after few seconds You can save Your converted AI file. More, there is even better option in this app - You can share Your file directly to Illustrator. (if Your PC is running, the Illustrator will open, and You gonna see Your work there). I'm attaching the screenshot Perhaps I am doing something wrong? it's hard to believe free app have better export features than this(?) Freid 1
Staff EmT Posted May 26, 2022 Staff Posted May 26, 2022 Hi @DawidXT Welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately this is not a export option for the Affinity apps. You can find more information regarding supported file formats in the link below: https://affinity.help/designeripad/English.lproj/contents.xml?page=pages/Appendix/fileformat.html?title=Supported file formats DawidXT 1 Contact Support | List of V2 FAQ's | Affinity Online Help | Affinity Video Tutorials | Beta Software Forums | Bug Reporting Guidance
DawidXT Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 Are there at least any plans for adding this features? Is there any roadmap I can see whats planned in the future for this app?
Staff EmT Posted May 26, 2022 Staff Posted May 26, 2022 The previously attached link will provide more detail on why this is not possible and some workarounds. We do not have a public roadmap, however there is a dedicated section for feedback and suggestions on our forum, you may wish to post a sugesstion in there via the link below. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/52-feature-requests-suggestions/ DawidXT 1 Contact Support | List of V2 FAQ's | Affinity Online Help | Affinity Video Tutorials | Beta Software Forums | Bug Reporting Guidance
iuli Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Vectornator is pushing AI (and Adobe integration) from the very beginning. In the past (before Adobe brought their own apps to AppStore) there were false rumors that Vectornator was going to become part of Adobe. Personally I used Vectornator to import SVG vector files from Designer and save them as AI. (They have a killer app, which makes AI looking like a joke on iPad, but I was not convinced Vectornator will stay subscription-free forever, and I was not willing to spend hundreds of hours to accommodate to their unintuitive UI). DawidXT Posted May 27, 2022 Author Posted May 27, 2022 Hi guys @EmT I read the links, now I know whats going on with the AI format. Sad, but if there is nothing we can do, but it is what it is. I still will be hoping for some kind of support of this. Not surly AI format, but sharing directly to Adobe Illustrator would be nice. @iuli Thanks mate for the explanation. I am suprised already that vectornator is free, and I am trying to understand how this is possible. Hopefully in the future will be one time payment only. Have You seen their current version of this app on iPad? it looks really really cool. Minimalistic and intuitive, there is not much to learn really. The only thing that I decided to bought the Affinity Designer was custom brushes - they are nice, and they are not present in vectornator yet. iuli 1
