How to Edit afdesign Image?

Recommended Posts

You have a group within a group, for some strange reason, but when all’s said and done you have a single image with no editable text.

I've seen that ‘Craftsbury’ image image before, without the typed text. Don’t you have, or have access to, a copy of the original?

You don't say if you have a copy of Designer (or Photo or Publisher). Normally you would need Designer to edit the file. I say normally because the file is pretty much just an image, not a lot there to be edited beyond overall colour or contrast or cropping changes. You can't change the text or the colour of the text because it is not actual text, just part of the single image.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I want to edit the attached image.

"Edit" is rather vague. What do you want to do to it?

I at least want to change the 2021 to 2022 and some of the product list.

Then you need to start with something that has real Text in it, not just a picture of Text.

I saved the 2021 CFM Products image, designer in Designer, as an afdesign document and exported jpg and png versions. I thought saving the original design as an afdesign document would allow me to edit it.

So I don't run into this situation again, how do I save a Designer document and have it be editable when I want to update it?

You can't start with an image of the text. You need the original document with the editable text that they created the image from.

If you’re editing the product list, you might like to note that “potpourri” should have two Rs.

Keep the text on one or more separate layers, as in the attached file.

When you export to PNG or JPEG, the entire design is flattened to become a single raster layer, which means that you no longer have the editable text that you started with. You need to retain the *.afdesign file so that you can edit the text layer(s) as required.
