abra100pro
I wished there was a golden ratio element here which I could lay over my layouts to quickly arrange it for the better – would be a huge help for me. Best with a curve (colour should be choosable) and the rectangles. Should be an object like triangle,... too. Same in Apub Sample image: Text and image are greyed out a bit – it is all about the rectangles and the curve. marlies09, Alfred and DGee
prophet
An interesting idea. +1 from me. DGee
Pšenda
I don't know, if it's necessary to be part of Shape Tools. I personally created Assets for this purpose, for which I used this link. I just divided the individual parts into subgroups so that I could easily turn on what should be displayed to me. Guest
Why not just create an asset of a 'golden ratio' curve and use it as a guide when creating your layouts? The other objects in the shapes menu are all actual parametric shapes used to create objects in a composition, whereas a 'golden ratio' is more of a guide curve used only for layout—and almost better suited to another type of grid or guide (see View -> Guide Manager…, View -> Grid and Axis Manager…). I'm not against the idea, but over-loading the shapes menu with things that aren't really shapes is bound to lead to confusion.
abra100pro
I see the point of it being in the wrong place in the tools. However I really like the idea of it being an element that I can transform especially flip/rotate and colourise as needed.

When DrawPlus acquired a Spiral Tool not long before development ceased, it was grouped with the parametric QuickShapes that were forerunners of the Affinity apps’ Shape Tools. Why could the spiral shape not be included as part of a design? One thought about how this might be handled would be that whenever Serif gets around to implementing "global layers" (as discussed more in the context of Publisher), they could allow such a layer to be set as a "guide layer" so that all shapes on that layer would immediately become guides. Rather then "special case" shapes like this is suggesting, this would enable any vector object to be used as a guide simply by placing it on that layer (rectangle guide, star guide, text guide, cat guide...), or to be part of the design itself simply by keeping it in a different layer. Guest
@fde101 I really like the idea of guide layers which could ideally enable any shape (or combination of shapes) to be used as a guide. This could become even more interesting if these guide layers were available to a scripting API which could then make use of them for automating layouts, filling objects/areas with other objects, wrapping objects to guides, etc. You could even make the case for having multiple guide layers which could serve different purposes within a composition or layout. Of course being able to convert shapes to guides has been available in other apps for some time.
