jweitzel Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Hello our there! I am drawing maps since about 25 years for a certain periodical. At "primeval times" with Aldus Freehand (until V. 11), after it was killed by Adobe in lack for an alternative sadly as .ai files. Now I want to start over a new project with AfDesigner. For that project, it will be neccessary to step out (walk along) a bunch of footpaths in the landscape with a (quality) GPS tracker, log that data and transfer them (via what file format?) to the outline software. Illustrator does support importing a certain amount of interchange formats of GPS and cartography softwares and devices (last but not least of »AutoCAD«/Autodesc interchange formats like .dwg). My questions: Does AfDesigner support import of any kind of "GPS tracker" files? How is that done, what will I see in the software? Does AfDesigner support any map-orientated functions like GIS data, shading of terrain, fixed scales, parameterized scaling etc.? Stay well Johannes Quote
Staff NathanC Posted May 25, 2022 Staff Posted May 25, 2022 Hi @jweitzel, As far as i'm aware Designer doesn't support any functions for GPS tracking files/Auto drawing, i've linked the help guide which details which file formats are importable. https://affinity.help/designer/English.lproj/pages/Appendix/fileformat.html If this is something that you would like to see implemented feel free to post this on the Feature Requests & Suggestions board. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/53-feedback-for-affinity-designer-on-desktop/ Quote
jweitzel Posted May 30, 2022 Author Posted May 30, 2022 Many thanks for your kind reply and hint to the feature request board! That AfDesigner doesn't support such a function is really pitiable, because I would need it very much. Including the import of .dwg files... But realistically spoken, I think, there are other more important aspects than these to be solved/to be implemented in AfDesigner. Sigh ... Best wishes Johannes Quote
