amongstmyselves Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Hi all, Firstly I am enjoying using Publisher which is an overdue upgrade from Macromedia Freehand MX. I am documenting a electronics project and wanted the advantage of a hyperlink embedded PDF, hence the upgrade. Though I am finding some interesting issues. If I select a section of text and insert hyperlink to an anchor, when I go back to the Interactive option, the goto hyperlink target isn't always there although the created PDF does have a working link. I have come across an issue where I would copy a text box which has a hyperlink target attached, edit it and when I go to type new text the program crashes. I can repeat this crash every time. I have learned not to copy hyperlinked text which solves the crashing issue. On other occasions I create a Goto Hyperlink to an Anchor and it goes to the wrong anchor in the PDF. But in the publisher file it goes to the correct anchor. Of course, that's when the Goto Hyperlink is working. I appear to have work arounds for this issue but I thought I should bring this to peoples attention. Steve I'm using Windows 10 by the way.

amongstmyselves Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 Thanks for the quick reply @DWright I've attached a section of my file which fails. This is relating to the crash based on editing text. The document has two pages. First, add a new page to the end of the document. Go to page 2 and copy the text at the bottom left, Back to Voice Zwei, go to page 3 and paste in. Now select all the text that was pasted, enter new text and crash. That's what I get. The issue with hyperlinks gets more interesting. From some more experiments, I can create a hyperlink from selected text or a text box. Both appear to work but only text that I selected, not the text box, will have the Goto Hyperlink Target. The text box doesn't have the Goto Hyperlink Target but will still go to the hyperlink assigned. The same attached Publisher file shows this irregularity. The text "From Quad DAC 2 - Zwei - Ch A" on the left side has a hyperlink that goes to the first page as does the same text on the right side which is clearly showing its hyperlink with the blue and underline. The Goto Hyperlink Target option is not available for the left side text but is for the right side text. I applied a hyperlink to the left text box but I selected the text on the right text box and applied a link. Maybe I shouldn't be applying a link to a text box but instead on selected text?
