Data Merge Pictures resize on their own

Recommended Posts

I've got a problem. Pictures in a data merge always go to 100%. I have repositioned and resized them smaller to fit the item and I turn the preview off and on and it's back to where it was. This is in Affinity Publisher 1.10.5. I've tried exporting it with the way I want them and they export wrong too.

Am I doing something wrong?

i saw your post to and I think they are related. I didn't want to hijack the post because I wasn't sure if it was connected.

This is about the only thing I use Indesign for now is data merging pictures and I was hoping to switch to Affinity for that.

I just tested this on Windows version 1.10.5 and images scale within the Picture frame controls according to the setting made on the merge setup document:

Do you mean that the images always use "No Fit" picture frame property (the portion of unscaled image cropped as specified within the picture frame), or that the image is always shown completely and that the picture frame is also resized to fit the image sizes?

Are you using Picture Frames, or just inserting the image directly?

I can notice, that this problem in my case was when images had different resolution DPI.

Images are scaled based on document DPI but I think their nominal DPIs are not relevant so how they show within the picture controls when the images are not fitted in any way, should only depend on how they are aligned within the control, and how much they have pixels. So below the document DPI is 2400 and 1200 dpi (compare these to "No Fit" version in my previous post when the document DPI was 300dpi).

IMO the data merge feature works as expected when merging images.

Is it possible to pull images from a data source without a picture control?

I thought it was, but I have very little experience using images and Data Merge.

@Bryce,

I think you want to be asking @DWright, the person who set up the 'dropbox', and not @anto who is just a member of the forum like you or I.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
