Unwanted transparent background when exporting as PNG in Affinity Publisher

Recommended Posts

My background is transparent when I export as PNG. I do not have transparent background selected in the document settings.

I have just been putting a large white rectangle behind everything to get it to export properly, but this can't be the intended method can it?

No - untick Transparent background work fine for me. Example files?

Everybody doesn't always want a white background in their PNG files, so adding a background, be it a white rectangle, another colour/pattern, or an image is quite normal and acceptable.

Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz :  32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 : Windows 10 Home
Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) on desktop and iPad

Hi irateginger!

Your problem could be caused by a setting in the Export-Dialog. Look what is selected at "Area". It should be set to "Whole Document". "Selected Area" works too, but cuts the document  to the range of its visible pixels.
