RGTT Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 About [Move Tool] I want to switch to "Move Tool" with a keyboard shortcut after typing in a textbox. However, since the keyboard shortcut is set to [V] by default, the text box is typed with the "letter V" and I am having trouble switching. I think that [esc], which does not input characters, is the best, but even if I changed it to [esc] in "the environment settings", it was not reflected. Please fix the bug that the keyboard shortcut change is not reflected in the environment settings. Also, set the default keyboard shortcut of [Move Tool] to [esc]. Thank you. Quote

Dan C Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Hi @RGTT, Welcome to the Affinity Forums 3 hours ago, RGTT said: I think that [esc], which does not input characters, is the best, but even if I changed it to [esc] in "the environment settings", it was not reflected. I can confirm that [ESC] has multiple uses in the Affinity application, and therefore this key cannot be set for the Move Tool, or any other tool. When trying to change the Keyboard Shortcut, the [ESC] key will cancel your changes, which is by design. This is another reason the key cannot be set as a custom shortcut. I hope this clears things up! Quote

I hope this clears things up! Thank you for your answer. In my Affinity application, I can "not" confirm that [ESC] has multiple uses. As you can see by looking at the my screen shot, the [ESC] key is not canceled and I can register. I can register it, but it doesn't work as a shortcut, so I'm in trouble. The important problem is that with the default [V] shortcut, if I press [V] immediately after typing the text, the letter [V] will be typed into the text, so I cannot change it to "Move Tool". For example, in Adobe's Photoshop, even while entering text, simply pressing the [ESC] key or clicking outside the text box will replace the "Move Tool". I would appreciate it if you could improve it. Edited May 30, 2022 by RGTT Quote

Would you expect different behavior? - and how would you write letters in the text, not just V, which are assigned as keyboard shortcuts ?! As mentioned above - just press ESC and V. RGTT Posted May 30, 2022 Author Posted May 30, 2022 Oh! I see! After pressing the [ESC] key and then pressing V, I was able to switch even immediately after entering the text.👏 Sincerely Thank.😇 ・・・By the way, not long ago, I discovered another way to switch even immediately after entering text. To change the keyboard shortcut from the default V to ↓. (The disadvantage is that we cannot move the cursor downward with the ↓ key.😅) Quote
