Esperida Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Hello, I am trying to make a deck of question cards from a base of an exel file with the questions and I would need the size of the box that contains the text of the answer to automatically adapt to the answer. (the black rectangle with the rounded edges in the image) Thanks

(the black rectangle with the rounded edges in the image) There are two options: • use an Artistic Text frame. This always resizes with its content. Disadvantage: corresponding to its self-growing width it doesn't do line breaks. If the answer should flow across various lines you would need to type line breaks manually. • Use a text Decoration style to create the black text background. This will auto-grow with the amount of text. Disadvantage: no rounded corners. • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.6.2 | Affinity V2.6.3
carl123 Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Isn't this something Constraints could do? To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. thomaso Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Constraints need object layers (not just characters within frames) + someone who moves or scales objects. The latter condition reminds me to pinned objects which can get moved by text content / while typing. (without using Constraints) pinned object as frame cap.m4v Nevertheless, a quite cumbersome workflow. And definitely doesn't work in an exported PDF, as the OP might possibly have in mind. the.legend and vivala 2 • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.6.2 | Affinity V2.6.3

I recommend to avoid a Pinning (or Constraints) solution but use @carl123's Paragraph Decoration instead. It is more flexible and compatible: • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.6.2 | Affinity V2.6.3
vivala Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Thank you very much Sir! Used it in combination with a high text frame, copying and pasting Artistic text into the frame, and I obtained what I was loooking for: a text frame that expands depending on content, useful for me for a Data merge based project. Best regards Sir!
