Barkley42 Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 I have tried several time to update my Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo to 1.10.5 and the software keeps crashing. I work fine using 1.9.2 but as soon as I update I crash. I am at a loss as to next steps. Graphix card is NIVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Windows 10 All drivers current. 238f1079-ed53-443b-92c6-190f8d852d56.dmp Quote
Staff NathanC Posted May 16, 2022 Staff Posted May 16, 2022 Hi @Barkley42, I would suggest running the .NET framework repair tool and going through a complete removal of your existing version of Designer/Photo via the Uninstall Troubleshooter by following the below: .NET Repair Tool Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=30135 and download the repair tool Follow the Repair Tool wizard through to resolve any existing issues. Once completed, reboot your PC. Uninstalling Via Troubleshooter Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d and download the Troubleshooter Select 'Uninstall' and Select Designer/Photo and follow the troubleshooter wizard through. After removing both programs, reboot your PC. Download and install the latest versions from https://store.serif.com/en-gb/account/downloads/ and see if this resolves the issue. If you're still having trouble, could you confirm at what point the crash occurs, does it crash on the splash screen? Quote
Barkley42 Posted May 16, 2022 Author Posted May 16, 2022 I followed all the steps to repair the .net and reinstalled just Affinity Designer version 1.10.5 and it opened fine. I opened a svg broke it apart and started to use styles to color it. After several minutes the application crashed. Attached is the crash report. c848cba6-fb9a-45aa-9882-ea682e3fdf96.dmp Quote
Staff NathanC Posted May 16, 2022 Staff Posted May 16, 2022 Hi @Barkley42, Has Hardware Acceleration re-enabled itself since the reinstallation? I would advise unchecking this if it isn't already under Preferences > Performance to see if this makes an improvement. Quote
Barkley42 Posted May 16, 2022 Author Posted May 16, 2022 No I had verified that it was not enabled before starting the edits. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted May 16, 2022 Staff Posted May 16, 2022 I've not got any clear indications to what the issue might be from the crash report so far, is this something you're able to re-create using a specific workflow? Quote
Barkley42 Posted May 16, 2022 Author Posted May 16, 2022 I have recreated it multiple times since the release of 1.10.0. I have never been able to run any version greater than 1.9.2 which runs great (no crashes). It doesn't really seem to matter what I am doing with the software but it only crashes after the editing. My drivers are current. My computer has enough memory.
