Sonic
Greetings, Just wondering why that is? E.g. I set a new document to be 500x250px...then I when I import a 1200x800 image, that image is blurry. What is causing this? And is the only way to solve this to create a document dimension size that is at least the same size as the image that is to be imported? Thanks for any feedback
Staff MEB Posted December 17, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 17, 2015 Hi Sonic, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Which program are you referring to, Photo or Designer? Have you scaled the image down after importing to fit the document dimensions? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Sonic
Hi MEB, I'm talking about Photo, but I think similar issue with Designer. I basically would import a photo that is still 1200x800 into a document that is set to 500x250. The only scaling I do is just re-sizing it with the mouse. But I can visibly see that the hi-res photo is blurry. In general, what's causing the blurriness? I only figured that since the imported image was higher res than the working document, that it would more than suffice for clarity. Thanks for any feedback. Sonic
Hello! Does anybody know if we have to first convert an image with a higher resolution (e.g. 1200x800) to be lower, before importing into an Affinity Photo project that is set to a document size of 500x250 - in order to prevent blurring? If so, by how much would I need to convert the higher resolution image to work appropriately in the 500x250 document, for example? Thanks for any feedback. barninga
hi, i would try the following: 1) open the hi-res image 2) rescale it to the desired dimensions through Document->Resize (Lanczos 3 method) 3) copy the rescaled image and paste it to the project that you're working at Quote take care, stefano
A_B_C
Hi Sonic, please be aware that an image retains its native resolution when it is placed in an Affinity Designer or Photo document. Upon closer inspection, you will see that a placed image appears as an image object and not as a pixel layer in the layers list. The image object only gets scaled to the document resolution when it is rasterised. Please have a look at the following post that explains the difference between image objects and pixel layers: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13651-layers-and-masks-concepts/?p=60276 And here is a test that should show you the effects of rasterising an image object: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13815-couple-of-questions/?p=66856 Now the blurriness of a placed image might be due to the view quality settings in the preferences of Affinity Designer or Photo. Try to change it from Nearest Neighbour to Bilinear and see if there is any difference. Kind regards, Alex :)
