Hello

I'm suddenly getting bad UI lag whenever I click on anything UI (like tools, panels). I've been using Affinity for a long time before without problems. It happens with Publisher and Photo too. No other programs are affected.  You can see it here:

So far I have tried:

- changing the performance settings

- deleting the appdata

- resetting user data

- updating gpu drivers

- uninstalling and reinstalling on another drive

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply, @EmT

Unfortunately this didn't help and neither did changing any of the performance settings.

I didn't change anything on my PC (except installing a few fonts), so I don't know why this started happening.

My rig:  rtx 2060, i5 6600k

@EmT

Thank you again, I checked the link and I don't run any of the listed apps. In fact I don't run any third party software. I noticed that the issue (UI lag and freeze) after I click on literally everything once after opening my document. It's like it needs to load the cache for each clickable element first. Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about here, just trying to help finding a solution. I'm happy for any ideas!

Could you try going through the below steps to revert the application to it's default settings which may resolve your issue:

The link below will advise you what is cleared and where assets are stored so they can be backed up.

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98906-what-exactly-do-the-clear-user-data-options-clear/&tab=comments#comment-529435

1. Press Win + R and enter %APPDATA% and navigate to the 'Affinity' Folder.

2. Right click the Designer/Photo/Publisher folder and compress the folder to ZIP to create a backup.

3. On the application shortcut, click once onto the shortcut, hold down control and right click > open the application whilst still holding down control.

4. This will prompt a new menu 'Clear User Data' with three boxes ticked, press the 'Clear' at the bottom right hand corner.

5. Load the application back up to confirm if this has resolved the issue.

If that does not resolve the problem, please could you advise what mouse you are using? If you are using a mouse with a high polling rate, could you try swapping to a standard mouse and see if that improves the issue.

@EmT

Thanks for the suggestion. Please note that as I've stated in my initial post, I have already tried deleting the Appdata to no effect. I have also just tried using different mouses, but that also had no effect. Do you have any idea why the lag gets better after some time? If I leave the software open for some time and then come back to it, the lag also comes back. Thanks in advance

Perhaps telling what fonts?
Maybe a corrupted one got installed and is the culprit.

Actually I just tried uninstalling all new fonts and it didn't change anything. thanks for the reply though

After watching the video and noticing the screenshot with Affinity Designer (Not Responding) highlighted I have to say that I have noticed this type of behaviour when the application is trying to load a previously opened document (one that is quite large(). If you do a start with the control key held down and only tick the box with Reopen Documents (it is one of the first three boxes) then things work better.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
