Xavvi Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hello, I've just downloaded an eps file from Shutterstock. I've opened it in Affinity Designer expecting to be able to pull apart all of the layers, but it looks like it's been flattened and cut into squares. I can't edit the layers individually, I can only drag the squares about. I asked Shutterstock about this and they said it's because I'm using Affinity. Is there a way to import this so I can access the individual layers? I would upload the file here but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share it. So here's what it looks like for me: Quote
Dan C Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hi @Xavvi, Sorry to see you're having trouble! I can confirm this is due to the type of 'EPS' file that sites like Shutterstock use, unfortunately they are simply '.Ai' (Adobe Illustrator) files in an EPS wrapper, and Affinity is unable to read the proprietary information in the .Ai file. More information regarding this can be found here - I hope this clears things up Quote
Xavvi Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 Thanks @Dan C. That's a shame. I'll see if it's possible to get a PDF from them. Thank you for the speedy reply. Dan C 1 Quote

Since the content providers use Adobe's file formats throughout, there are some limitations for other software vendors, since Adopay uses an undocumented data area for e.g. filters, effects and other settings. The same is true for Corel.
