Affinity Designer does not export proper SVG files

I am trying to use Affinity Designer to create a cut path to use used by a cutter/plotter. the SVG files Affinity Designer makes not being accepted by the cutter software. 

If I open the SVG from Affinity Designer in Adobe Illustrator and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other than save it, the resaved file from Adobe Illustrator is accepted by the cutting software. 

I'm using Onyx Thrive the cutting software that comes with it is CutServer. 

It seems that Affinity Designer is not following proper SVG standards when exporting SVG files. 

Does Affinity have a fix for this?

Thank you that worked! I searched the forum but that never came up in the results. Searching the term "cut path" or "cutter" only returned results for doing things with paths in Affinity Designer.
