MikekPhoto
Long time Photoshop user and gave just started to use Afffinity Photo in earnest. Most of the tools and features I have gotten a fair understanding but one item that I use a lot in portrait work is dodge and burn. In Photoshop I would create a new layer with the blend mode set to soft light and filled with 50% grey (All set from the create new layer dialog), then painting with a soft brush with color set to white to dodge or black to burn; my brush settings are normally set to 12% Opacity and 7% Flow. I have tried to find a way to do this in AP and have failed miserably...Anyone have tips or instructions on how I can do this.... Thanks Mike (2-day neewbie)
Staff Pauls Posted December 17, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 17, 2015 It's pretty much the same except you have to create and fill the grey layer yourself e.g. Create new pixel layer from the icon in the layers tab Fill it using the flood fill tool or Edit,Fill option - you'll have to specify the mid grey colour value. Set the blend mode for the grey layer Regards
MikekPhoto
Thanks, I did figure this out around 1:00 AM this morning - thanks to AP being more than slightly addictive :D Now my challenge is to figure out what I am doing wrong flattening layers - but that is a different topic MK
