Using image as swatch fill in Designer

Is it possible to use a JPG image as a swatch in Designer?

I'm not sure at the moment, because my Desktop PC is off at the moment, but I think it should work. Take a look into the Burger Menu of the Swatches Panel. There should be a function called something like "Create Palette outoff image" or so. At least in Affinity Photo.

Sorry, I don't think I explained properly, I mean is there any way to create a swatch that uses an image so you can then use the fill as a pattern of sorts.

1. Add a simple element like a vector rectangle.

2. Use the Fill Tool (in AP it is called Gradient Tool?!?).

3. Change Type to Bitmap from the context toolbar.

4. Pick the image you want and adjust the settings as you like.

5. In the Swatches panel use Add current fill to palette.

Take a look at the Assets Panel (menu "View" > "Studio" > "Assets"). Is that what you mean? You can store texture images and other stuff there and just drag it to every document you want.

Thanks! I think that's as close to the equivalent in Illustrator that I was looking for. One issue I'm having when exporting the file as PDF. Any image/photo that's placed within the file is low quality. All the text & curves are fine, but any image is lower quality then when I'm working on it in Designer.

Unusual. What are your export settings? Do you have a simple sample file containing an embedded image for us?

Are you complaining about the bitmap fill? Looks like you upscaled the bitmap a bit too much.
