PaoloT Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 When saving, I can't see an option to also show the file extension. I find this very useful, to immediately identify the file creator while in the Finder. I would like to have a checkbox in the Save dialog, or a general preference, to make it appear if desired. Paolo Snapseed 1 Quote

As far as I know, Paolo, that is not a setting that the application can control. Affinity appliations will provide the extension automatically when saving/exporting, but when you're in a Finder dialog then Finder is entirely in charge of whether file extensions are shown, or not. Or do I misunderstand your request? (I'm not a Mac user, only Windows and iPad.) There are apps showing an option, in the Save dialog, to show or hide the extension. Then, there are apps (most of them, I would say) including the extension in the Name field when saving. Unfortunately, Affinity apps don't have the one or the other, so (at least here on Mojave) the files are by default saved with no extension. Paolo Snapseed 1 Quote

Staff MEB Posted May 3, 2022 Staff Posted May 3, 2022 Hi @PaoloT, Open a Finder window, go to menu Finder > Preferences and tick Show all filename extensions. The extension should then appear in the Save dialog in Affinity. PjMcIntosh 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

There are things for which one wants to see the extension, and others for which it is not desirable. Forcing it in for all the files results in a mess. Paolo Quote

Ever since I started using Windoze I’ve wondered why anyone at Micro$oft thought it a good idea to hide extensions by default.
