Latest Version : Yes

OS: Windows 10

Reproducible: No

Hello,

I have noticed this problem in both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer on Windows (I haven't used it on any other OS). Quite often, when I use the File->Place... option, the file selector dialog is filtered by .txt files. I have to manually type *.* to see all the files I like. I'm not sure why this happens. I think the program should remember what I last chose, but it does not.

This isn't a show stopping bug by any means, but it is kind of annoying.

Thanks,

Trent

When I see it, it's usually because I have a Text Frame active, so the program is filtering to text files as that is what you usually would want to insert there.

But I think there is at least one known bug that causes it to happen in a different situation.

I just did a quick test, and I think you are right that it is caused by a text frame being active. That is good to know!

It is still kind of annoying, though. I think *.* is the most convenient filter. It should at least remember what the last thing I chose was. I have imported a .txt file exactly 0 times in my life when using Affinity.

Thanks for the tip!

So I've still been running into this issue and I don't think it is always caused by the text frame. It would be nice if it could be fixed. It isn't the most important bug in the world, but it is definitely annoying to constantly have to change the file type filter when placing objects, which is something I do a lot when experimenting with designs. (Also, I should say I mostly notice this in Affinity Designer but it seems to happen in both Photo and Designer).
