Josie
If I wanted to add shading in a design no matter what design it is, how would I do that?
Alfred
For each shape that you want to add shading to, either duplicate the shape or add a smaller shape (depending on how localized you want the shading to be) and change the fill to black. Apply elliptical transparency to the black duplicate and adjust until you get a pleasing result. You can employ a similar method to add highlights, using a white shape instead of a black one. Josie
What if the shading is a brown or a red, something like that what do I do?

Just use brown or red for shading, and use yellow for highlights. Josie
What do you mean use yellow for highlights? And also when I do the shading how do I align it with the design I’m doing exactly so it looks like part of the design?

We were discussing the use of black for shading and white for highlights, so when you asked about using something more muted like brown or red instead of black for the shading, I suggested using yellow instead of white for the highlights. 22 minutes ago, Josie said: And also when I do the shading how do I align it with the design I’m doing exactly so it looks like part of the design? If you use a black copy of the shape (or a brown or red one) it will align exactly with the original, and then you can apply more or less transparency depending on how much shading you want. Josie
Does it matter what brown or red color I use and so on depending on the design? Thanks

Only if it matters to you or your client. After all, Josie, you’re the designer! Josie
How do I make sure the shading fits or align with the design? And how would I blend the color in the design so it looks like shading? This is what some of the designs my friend did with shading, am trying to figure out how to do it exactly like 👍 this.
