dayminkaynin
It says I need another app to open it. The only option is to "look for one in the Microsoft app store" What's the app that installs affinity-publisher-1.10.5.dmg ?
Komatös
@dayminkaynin, welcome to the forums. The dmg format is for MACs. Why would you install MAC software on a Windows machine? Perhaps you selected the Mac version rather than the Windows version by mistake. If so, you can email affinityreturns@serif.com to arrange a refund, and then purchase the correct version. Or, if you're trying to use the Trial, simply download the Windows version rather than the Mac version. If you purchased the Mac version you will need to make a new purchase. Each of the licences for the Affinity apps only covers a single platform. The user interface is necessarily different, so it isn’t “the same thing” any more than TextEdit is the same thing as WordPad. emmrecs01 and PaulEC 2 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.3.1 (iPad 7th gen)

You own a licence to use the software on as many MacOS machines as you own/control. You would be buying a licence to use the software on as many Windows machines as you own/control. Those are two different things. Remember, your licence to use the software on MacOS machines does not expire and will still be valid if you decide to move back from Windows. You bought a license to use the Mac version of the app. The Mac version will not run on Windows computers because the Windows operating system can't run apps like the Affinity ones designed to run on the Mac operating system. For example, Windows can't run the Unix executable file built into the Mac version or use the API's built into the macOS. So of necessity the Windows version had to be developed using different code that the Windows OS could run. Consequently, it is not the same app as the one you already have a license to use.
