Josie Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 How would I do this kawaii milkshake? I have all of it right accept for the brown part where it’s not rounded correctly. I want it to look more like the image on the left. The image on the right is what I have done so far. Thanks kawaiimilkshake.afdesign Quote
carl123 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Looks good to me but which brown part are you talking about? The light brown reflection on the glass? or the dark brown that makes up most of the glass? iuli Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hi @Josie There's nothing wrong with the way your version looks. If you want to make the bottom more rounded simply adjust the two anchor points until you’re satisfied with the shape. If you want to make it look even more like in the reference, this is what I usually do: First I make as many layers as I need and I rename them accordingly; in this example would be main body, pink cream, cherry, yellow straw, and extra details. Then I make the line work for each separate shape in their respective layer using the pencil tool. To add color, for each separate shape, I go to Edit, select Insert Behind and with the layer selected I use the Pen Tool to trace each shape under the curves/linework. This way I have complete control over the composition and I can reshape it for future use as I please. All the best! kawaiimilkshake2.afdesign IMG_1961.MOV Alfred 1 Quote StudioLink 256gb 11’ M1 iPad Pro iPadOS 17 Public Beta 1 iPad Magic Keyboard
Josie Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 So I can trace it with the pen tool and adjust the nodes as needed? Quote

The versatility of the Pen Tool is unmatched in vector graphic, I think. In my opinion no other tool comes even close to it — especially for tracing. Josie Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 So the really hard stuff I can trace and the rest of the stuff I can do freehand? Quote
iuli Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 @Josie Depending of how complex a design is, I think. Personally I always do the line work with the Pencil Tool, and the tracing underneath with the Pen Tool. Quote StudioLink 256gb 11’ M1 iPad Pro iPadOS 17 Public Beta 1 iPad Magic Keyboard
Josie Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 Also if I wanted to add arms and legs to the design how would I do that? Quote
iuli Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 @Josie Use the Pen Tool with a thick curve for arms and legs. Use the Pencil Tool with a thiner curve for hands and feet contour. Use the Pen Tool to trace the feet and hands linework as shown in the video above. Alfred 1 Quote StudioLink 256gb 11’ M1 iPad Pro iPadOS 17 Public Beta 1 iPad Magic Keyboard
