ImreAM Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I have to make a figure for my thesis and i need to use custom patterns. Fill tool Bitmap does exactly what i need but i can't find a way how i can modify pattern values manually. Quote

After choosing the bitmap file, you can use the node handles to adjust size and rotation. There is a tutorial video explaining the details. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/392237161/ ImreAM 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. R C-R Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 If you are using custom patterns, would using Pattern Layers help do what you want? Video tutorial for that at https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/500954750/ ImreAM 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7

YES, you can do what you want with a small workaround. 1) Convert your container to Curves (if it isn't already). Yes, you will be giving up any parametric shape abilities. 2) with the Node Tool select all nodes and make sure Transform Mode is active in Context Toolbar. Use the Transform panel to enter your exact values. 3) Now switch to the move tool and enter the opposite values. Voila Example: If you want a clockwise 33.7º rotation. • Node tool w/Transform Mode on > Transform panel > rotation field enter 33.7º (the container will rotate but the image will stay put) • Move tool > Transform panel > rotation field enter -33.7º (the container and the image will rotate) (the selection bounding box will now be akimbo but you can still use "Cycle Selection Box" and get a "clean" orientation, at least temporarily, if you need to do anything else to it.) You can only adjust the size/rotation by the handles for the bitmap fill on a shape or fill layer. Don't use it on a pixellayer because you cannot alter it afterwards. Yeah that is exactly what i mean. Other answers are good but i still think there should be a panel for handle values and then you can consistently and accurately change what the pattern looks like for every separate pattern in different places. ImreAM Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 Okay if anyone else comes here for a solution then i found a workaround. Create a rectangle with preferred size and then snap the fill tool mid point in the middle of the rectangle and then snap the fill tool handles to the rectangle sides. 😄 Quote
