Haaaase Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Just started test period and I really need tooltips because I'm new to Affinity.😭 When I hover over icons, tooltips show up very shortly and disappear immediately. OS: Windows 11 Pro (Build 22598) possibly relevant Hardware: Logitech G703 Mouse, Wacom Intuos 4 Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Possibly some Windows 11 system setting? For me (Windows 10), the Affinity application tooltips remain displayed until I move the mouse pointer away from the icon. Does this happen for both your mouse and your Wacom stylus? Haaaase Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 (edited) Hello Walt, Yes, it happens with mouse and stylus (also if one is unplugged) EDIT: I tried to change the resolution from 3840 x 2160 (scaling: 150%) to 1920 x 1080 (100%). That fixed the problem. Then back to 3840 x 2160 with 100% scaling, and it still works. The Scaling seems to cause the bug. Edited April 29, 2022 by Haaaase walt.farrell 1 Quote

Staff DWright Posted April 30, 2022 Staff Posted April 30, 2022 In the User Interface section of the Affinity Photo Preferences you can adjust the Tooltip delay time so they displayed longer when you hover the cursor over a tool. Quote

That just controls how quickly they are displayed, not how long they are displayed, doesn't it? 9 hours ago, carl123 said: For me (Windows 11), the Affinity application tooltips, once displayed, will automatically disappear after 6 seconds if I don't move the pointer away from the icon. walt.farrell Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 @Haaaase: Open or create a document. The Tools aren't active at all without one. (And thanks for the video.) (And thanks for the video.) Yes, but tooltips are active nonetheless. This is with 100% scaling. Tooltips look properly on my screen. But of course everything is too small. EDIT: But it's weird that the mouse pointer is in the wrong position in the recording (maybe it's about the recording software?) And did you try Opening or creating a document, to see if that affects the behavior? Haaaase Posted May 12, 2022 Author Posted May 12, 2022 I can't work with 100% scaling ... is there any fix? Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Now that we know the problem is related to Display Scaling, possibly @DWright will be able to figure something out? As far as I have seen you're the only user who has ever reported this (and I have run with the display scaled larger than 100 myself without issues), so it's not clear what's happening.
