jasd Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I'm just starting out with Pixel Persona in Designer. I am trying to follow the Pixel Persona Tutorial, but, no matter what I do, I cannot make any marks. I select the brush tool, choose a brush, add a colour and draw. And nothing happens. I have a Wacom tablet, but at the moment I'm still using a mouse on my iMac 27" I have no problems at all with the Vector Persona and have been using it successfully for many months. Quote
PaulEC Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Also, 1: Make sure you are using the Paint Brush tool with a basic brush 2: Make sure there is no active selection (press CMD/Ctrl+D) 3: Make sure "Protect Alpha" is not checked 4: Make sure the blend mode is set to Normal Quote Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 – Windows 11 Home - Affinity Publisher, Photo & Designer, v2 (As I am a Windows user, any answers/comments I contribute may not apply to Mac or iPad.)
jasd Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 Yay Hens - that's got it. Thank you. I'm a bit surprised that a pixel layer isn't automatic given that I'm in Pixel Persona, but so be it. Thank you. And thank you PaulEC, also jolly useful stuff. Quote

However, for many users, adding layers automatically is completely undesirable, so it's right, that it is up to the user how to set it up. It is automatic, at least on Windows. I would imagine the Assistant Manager is setup the same way on Mac, too. Consider for example working on a document in AD that already has one or more pixel layers in it. It would be very annoying if just switching to the Pixel Persona automatically created a new empty pixel layer in the document, because quite often all a user might want to do in that persona is to work on one of its already created pixel layers. The Assistant gives you the option of automatically creating a new empty pixel layer if you try to paint on the document with no layer is selected, but that doesn't have anything directly to do with just switching from one persona to another.
