I also have the problem. There is a white shade behind the text I cannot remove.
Noticed that these text is not applied by any paragraph style.

Just try apply to any existing paragraph style. And surprise, white shade behind the text is disappeared.

Create new style for fine adjustment.

I've seen this occur if the data was pasted in from a web browser as it may have formatting not recognised by Publisher. To attempt to remove the background select the incorrect piece of text and go to Edit > Defaults > Factory Reset and then Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection.

There are some other suggestions in the following thread that may also help.

Also, any particular reason you seem to be using a beta version as that would've been superseded by the release of the update to Publisher at the beginning of March?

Lee, insofar as I can tell, I'm not using a Beta version. When I open any of my Affinity apps and see there’s an updated version on offer, I always download and relaunch to set the latest version as my active version. What causes you to think my version may be Beta? I'm curious, because if there are tip-offs, I'd like to know what to look for. Thanks.

@Dr_No, I think Lee's comment about Beta version was directed to the author (romanticode). Looking at the screenshots, the Publisher icon shows it to be a beta. He just referred to your previous post with a similar issue as what the author was inquiring about.

Thanks, Ron … I misunderstood the direction of the answer.
