Proxi Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Hi there! After developing RAW files my images always lose a bit sharpness. In the examples below the upper is before, the lower is after development. You can see clearly that the petals are sharper in the upper picture. Can this be avoided somehow? Quote
Staff DWright Posted April 28, 2022 Staff Posted April 28, 2022 Hi @Proxi, Welcome to the forum Can you please provide me with more information on the following The camera model you are using Which processing steps did you use in the Develop persona Which OS are you running Photo on. Proxi 1 Quote
John Rostron Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 How did you generate the .png files you used to display the before and after development images? If they are captured screenshots, were they displayed at 100% before capture? John Proxi 1 Quote Windows 11, Affinity Photo 2.4.2 Designer 2.4.2 and Publisher 2.4.2 (mainly Photo). Proxi Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Thanks for replying. Camera: Sony A 6000 I've made heavy processing in Basic (Exposure and Details) and Details (Detail Refinment and Noise Red.). OS: Win7 64bit png files are created with SnagIt; they were displayed at 30%. Now this is interesting: I just made captures before/after development at 100%, and now there is no difference at all! A 100% display is absolutely necessary to evaluate the quality and sharpness of the image. At lower zooms, the mipmap technique is used due to the rendering speed, which distorts the image. Proxi Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Thank you Pšenda. Didn't know about mipmap - now I'm a bit smarter! Pšenda 1 Quote
