Affinity publisher crashes and cannot open or save a file anymore.

Hi! 

I've been working for weeks on a professional project. Everything was going just fine but since yesterday Affinity publisher refuses to open the document. It tells me that it is impossible to load the document, that it has been corrupted and then closes it. I sometimes manage to open it if I instantly click "export" when it opens, then the document seems to work fine until I need to save it. Affinity publisher shows me a message telling me that the document cannot be saved and will have to close. So, I cannot export, save and most of the time open my document. I've been working on separate projects that I have merged. Problems seem to have occurred after they were merged. 

It seems to affect some other projects that I have, even though nothing has been changed to them. But when I open some other files, I cannot save them...

My documents are stored locally but are on a shared folder that saves them regularly to iCloud. I didn't seem to have any issue with that throughout the year. All files are linked but not attached to the document. 

I work on a M1 Mac mini 12.0.1 (Monterey) and I use Affinity Publisher 1.10.5

I would really like to understand what causes the problem so that I could keep working on my project and avoid the same issue in the future.

I have attached the main corrupted project below. It's a large document, around 150 pages with a lot of pictures and text, using different fonts.

Hi @CheekyRodand Welcome to the Forums,

Thanks for attaching the file.  This is very odd, as myself and another member of the Tech team were both getting a mix of errors on opening your file and then other times the file would just open without any issue.  We tracked the problem down to an embedded image called RodeCasterPro-02.TFF which you can find listed in the Resource Manager.  I then rasterised each instance of this TIF file and i was then able to save and open the document without issue.  I've attached the re-saved version which is currently working fine for myself.

Why that TIF is causing all the problems, i'm not entirely sure and i've logged this with the Dev Team.  As soon as i get any more information on what is going, i'll update here

Hi @stokerg and thank you for taking the time to give me some feedback.

I have no idea why this image causes this problem. I've applied the same process to it as to all the other images in the project. If you find the reason why it caused the project to crash, I would be really interested to know about it.

In the meantime, I had managed to open the project and relocate all the images on a different folder and attach them to the file. It doesn't crash anymore and the document seems to be more reactive than it was. Can it be caused by the fact that the files were stored on my iCloud local folder? Is it considered as an external drive?

Hi @stokerg. I've been working on my document again and I have the same issue. When I closed it last time, everything went fine. But it won't open now. Can you tell me if it comes form the same picture? If so, I'll just replace it.  By the way, is it possible for me to repair it one way or another without having to come here to ask?
