Lee8164 Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Hi, I love using Affinity documents but I've noticed that Affinity Publisher is very unstable for a long time. I really need to work on a document and it keeps crashing randomly. Please can you help with resolving this issue. I am using version 1.10.5. Do I need to start by including a copy of the error message and attaching the file? If so, can you tell me how to make my file private, rather than public? Thank you, Lee Quote
Ken Hjulstrom Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 HI Lee, How much RAM is installed in the computer that you're using? My computer (a Mac Mini 2018) had 8 Gb of RAM, and although Publisher ran reasonably well with that amount of memory, I began to have problems when I was constructing a magazine layout that contained hundreds of megabytes of images. I've since upgraded my RAM to 32 Gb, and though I haven't used Publisher yet for a large project with the memory upgrade, I'm expecting that lags and crashes will pretty much be a thing of the past. If your machine only has 4 Gb of RAM or less, this might be the cause of your crashes Regarding making submitted files private, I don't believe that this can be done. When submitting a file to demonstrate a problem, it's recommended that you try to generate a smaller version of the file that triggers the same problem, making sure to remove (or replace) any sensitive data that might be contained in the original document. Dan C Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Hi @Lee8164, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I believe I am already speaking with yourself via Facebook Messenger, if so we ask that you only contact us via one method, as it can make supporting the issue trickier for our technical support team. I'd suggest continuing to post here, rather than through Facebook as there is greater flexibility for us on the Forums - but my apologies if this is not yourself! In regards to the issue you're experiencing, we'd certainly like a copy of your crash reports to investigate further. To find these please go to Applications > Utilities and open the Console app. Crash Reports from our apps can be found in the User Reports section. You can Right Click the required Crash Report and select Reveal in Finder, then attach the latest 3 to your reply here for me. 17 hours ago, Lee8164 said: If so, can you tell me how to make my file private, rather than public? We don't yet require your file, but should we need this for our investigation I can provide a private upload link for you here Quote
