NIgelJH Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Hello, I am using AP 1.10.5 and am finding it many times better than Photoshop that I had been using for a number of years. I have tried to mask some things and I have come up against a brick wall in that I cannot use it. For example the position of the mask shows it being nested with the layer I want to edit. When I look at tutorials the mask is show to the right of the layer just as it was in Photoshop. Also an online document posted on this forum says that I need to activate the pixel persona, but I don't have that, please see the attached images. Can someone please help and explain what I am doing wrong? Thank you! Quote
PaulEC Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 It doesn't matter whether the mask is displayed at the side or below the pixel layer, just click on the little arrow on the left to change it. The Pixel Persona is the main persona in APhoto (it is actually called the Photo Persona. – Pixel Persona is the name used for the raster editing persona in ADesigner.) NIgelJH Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 Ah, that makes sense! One more query. I have tried painting on the mask (black or white) and nothing happens. I have to be doing something wrong! Quote
NIgelJH Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Re my post above regarding nothing happens when I paint either black or white on the mask, I have discovered what was the issue. Because much of my images have areas theatre zero opacity or are transparent I had the Protest Alpha button ticked. Unticking this allowed me to be able to paint and get the expected result. Quote

NIgelJH Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 HI Ron It was such a simple fix that isn't that obvious. It was driving me nuts, so a quick post could save some people a lot of hassle and save time. Quote
