My Affinity AppData now uses 20GB and this is largely due to my Assets and Brushes and having to copy them between the programs rather than being able to use a single assets location.

I often find when using both Designer and Photo, I might create something and place it in my assets for later use, in fact my assets have grown to almost 3GB in size. The pig is when I might want to use a Designer asset in photo, yes there are options, I can load up Designer drag the asset onto a document and copy and paste it into Photo or opt to then edit the document in photo and add it as an asset, or I can export my assets from Designer, import them into Photo, then sort out what I want to keep.

I think it would be far better however, to simply have a central assets store, where all assets for all the Affinity software range are stored together, then you can create categories for each program and have access to your assets without having fart around. The same for the raster brushes. The pitfall of importing and exporting, because I don't know which I might use in what, I have simply imported them into all the programs, with the exception of brushes into Publisher, meaning that in fact my assets now take up 3 times the space on my computer they need to and my brushes twice as much as they need to, though with brushes, this is mostly due to it being too tedious to sort them out with the current means of doing so.

I seem to remember that in "another" app. there was a similar thing to "Assets", but rather than keeping a copy of everything (that produces large files), it simply referenced the original files, wherever they were stored. The problem, of course, was that if you changed the location of the original files, the link was lost, and you could no longer access them from the app. It would be nice to have a similar option in the Affinity apps, as an alternative to using the Assets Tab.

@ PaulEC, yes that would be a good option also, object link embedding, as you say if you change locations it may cause issues, I have this happen a lot when I use blender if I forget to pack textures, then have a reorganize on my PC, oops it doesn't know where the textures are. In terms of space though, having that option would be great as well as a central store, though in my case the central store would go on OneDrive, even I haven't managed to use my full TB yet and I definitely digitally hoard.
