Publisher Ver 1.10.5.1342 Win 10

I have a list of names in alphabetical order over two columns.

For some unknown reason some of the text is looking like it is bold when it should not, it starts going wrong at 'MILLER'

I am using Times New Roman > Regular > 10pt > No style > Pre formatted text.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Watch out for spaces in front of city names - they will break the alignment of the columns.

Use the text caret to select only the word MILLER and check to see if there is a stroke applied, or a bold font applied.

Thank you both, I have not found any stroke or bold applied.

I will keep scratching my head to see if I can resolve the issue.

If you can upload a sample .afpub document that would help the diagnosis.

It's a mystery Walt.

As you may have noticed I did a similar page set up in February with no problem.

Thank you for your help as usual.

No, I mean these gaps that break the alignment into columns.

In addition, there are spaces after the name, but these do not matter, because the tab aligns them. There are also spaces and tabs after city names, because the text ends with Enter anyway. This might bother you when editing text and extending it.

@John T: Thanks for the document.

If you put the text cursor in the word PARKE, for example, and check the Character Panel, you'll see it has a stroke (outline) applied. That makes it appear Bold.

Good catches about the stroke.

To solve this use the text caret to select all the text (or just the affected text) and go to Text > Reapply Text Styles. This will wipe out the local formatting and give you the applied Text Style Preformatted Text's style.

If you mean the uploaded font error.afpub file, I can't even find the word PARKE in it. What am I missing?

Page 4 (AKA 128) it is the second name in Newcombe / Parke

Walt I must admit that I missed that the text had an outline style, odd as I have never used that.

Something else to remember for the future.

Regards to all.

It continues from there to the end of the document.
Which makes me think there may be a hidden character in there.
So I selected all the text and pasted it into a text editor, but did not see anything.
Then pasted the text from the text editor back into the APub doc overwriting the text there.
And the "bold" switch was gone.
All text now looks the same.

So I think there was something there which the round-trip thru the text editor eliminated.
Where did the text come from?

No, the solution was found. The text had a small (0.2 point) stroke applied to it.

Thanks for that. For some reason when I used Find in APub & searched for PARKE (or Parke) it could not find that. I am not sure why, but it doesn't matter since the OP has the solution now.
