Being a branded short domain name does not mean it exists as a real stand alone site or domain.

It doesn’t necessarily exist as a real standalone website, but it must exist as a properly registered domain in order to function on the Internet.

No, but if you had a URL to a page on affinity.sale it would work. DNS with get the browser to the Rebrandly sure which will redirect to AffinityRevolution.

You're not supposed to worry about how that works.

There is no "page on affinity.sale" because there is no real affinity.sale website, but regardless, for the redirect to the real page to work you have to enter the shortcut URL correctly. Otherwise, the DNS lookup will fail & the browser can't be redirected to the real page.

That only requires that affinity.sale/ is correct. The info after the / will determine whether Rebrandly redirects correctly.

I am not sure what you mean by "only." AFAIK, either the whole shortcut URL has to be entered correctly or the redirect will fail.

Hmmm. I get (after a delay of several seconds) the same previously mentioned Rebrandly page. I don't know if that has anything to do with the macOS or Safari version I am using or some setting perhaps in Safari's Privacy preferences to prevent cross-site tracking or some such.

This entire topic has absolutely nothing to do with Serif Affinity.

It does to the extent that Affinity Revolution offers courses & ebooks about using the Affinity apps.

The title of the topic is The Exercise Files for Affinity Designer's E-Book (Affinity Revolution) and there is nothing that Serif Affinity can do about a link that does or does not work for a completely different company.

The question should have been asked on a forum for Affinity Revolution, or directed to that company. It is rather like asking BMW why a particular brand of motor oil is not available.

How about trying to write the address correctly !!!

Nope. It is simply a shortcut to the actual website page. A shortcut is a path or route to a destination, not the destination itself. So in the same way, here affinity.sale is just the path to the web page, not the page itself.

From the point of view of the OP/user, this is the "address" of the page, not its physical location on the xy server !!!
If you do not understand this, you should not respond to user queries that you are only confusing.
I understand that you have to shine your perfect knowledge here at all costs - but these are really completely irrelevant for the OP and its need to obtain the right link (correct address).

The OP does not seem to be asking for Serif to do anything, just for help from someone to get the ebook downloaded.

OP does not address a query to Serif employees !!! He only correctly expects that there are users on the forum who have some experience with these courses (see Bad_Wolf's post), and that he should be able to advise him.

You asked for "affinty.sale" (missing an "i") according to the error message, Bruce.

Obviously, the word Affinity is kind of cursed :-), see also the garbled address in the first post.

P. S. In this example, it is good to see the difference between an "existing" and a "non-existent" website, ie the difference between a correct and incorrect website address.

Usually a webbrowser should indicate that "affinity.sale" is a short domain.

aff-sale1.png.133f97a16319720bd20bd0273eace572.png

Further can the Rebrandly service also list all custom domains already in use (not available) and those variations which are available and thus are not in use so far (until somebody catches and boughts these too then). Below is just a short capture of the list, which is pretty long and interestingly shows that most (affinity.*) short domains are already in use and that there are only few left over (not in use).

☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
