The Exercise Files for Affinity Designer's E-Book (Affinity Revolution)

Recommended Posts

I bought the E Book a few years ago and I wanted to revise my study of it. For this I have to re-download the exercise files. However the download link  (afnity.sale/designer-fles) goes nowhere. Can someone help me with this please so I can continue my revision.

Thanks, Tim

If this was something from Affinity Revolution, I think you will need to contact them (support@affinityrevolution.com). AFAIK they are an independent training company and have no connection to Serif (Affinity).

From what I can tell there is no "afnity.sale" site anywhere on the web & not even any "sale" domain, so you must have gotten the link wrong somehow.

There had a „creative session“ on the official Affinity youtube channel, but probably no content made available on Affinity / Serif websites.

But that would not have anything to do with Affinity Revolution or its YouTube channel, would it?

That is obviously Affinityrevolution, a separate company and not Affinity the makers of the three applications.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Try entering for example "affinity.sale/eBook" in a browser & see what the URL is of the page that opens. For me, that redirects to https://courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/ebook-affinity-photo-ipad-for-beginners, which is specifically for the iPad version of AP. The corresponding URL for the desktop ebook for AD redirects to https://courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/ebook-affinity-photo-for-beginners.

So as near as I can tell, there is no actual affinity.sale domain or website. I'm not even sure if there is an Affinity Revolution ebook for AD. If there is, I can find no reference to it anywhere.

Or maybe just make sure the link URL is entered correctly in a browser? As shown in the OP, it doesn't even have "affinity" or "files" in it, just "afnity" & "fles."

No, even with affinity and files it gets an error. Google Drive says it's been unshared (or something like that). Another variant gets to rebrandly.com with a similar message. Contacting their support email seems the best approach, to me.

Being a branded short domain name does not mean it exists as a real stand alone site or domain. It is just a shortened, customized version of a longer URL typically used to share links, often for commercial purposes. That should be obvious from the redirect.

Regardless, it has to be entered correctly for it to work.

When you have more YT subscribers than Affinity itself, you know you did something great!

These guys are fantastic, if they’re going to offer a course for Affinity Publisher for iPad, I will definitely enroll.

It doesn't exist. It is is simply a shortcut to the actual (real) web page at the courses.affinityrevolution.com domain.

Well "affinity.sale" is a web shortcut/alias, which is then redirected/forwarded here via Rebrandly's link management services to the associated actual website.

However the OP probably once uppon a time bought this book here and ...

After you order the book, you can instantly download your copy to read on any device. You will also receive all the exercise files used in the book, so you can follow along with each lesson.

... now has difficulties to access the dropbox site where the exercise files reside. - Either he mistyped the web shortcut, or it's initial key assignment has changed in the meantime.

Yes, so "exists", thank you for your confirmation. This means that the user can enter the address of this website in the address bar, and it will work for him, unlike other nonsensical (misspelled) non-existent addresses that will not work. It doesn't matter if there is a redirection or a translation of the address - the website simply exists/works. The physical location of the server that the website eventually managed was not and is not at all discussed, and from the user's point of view it is completely irrelevant information.

Your claim that there is no affinity.sale may be confusing for OP.

I have all Affinity Revolution courses (Designer, Photo and Publisher) and I can confirm there are accompanion ebooks for Designer, Photo and Publisher. It is very good value when you buy their course bundles which is the course and ebook together.

Needless to say, they deliver very high quality courses, even better than from Affinity itself. To be honest, from the moment they have a new course, I buy it without hesitation. As their customer, they regularly create new tutorials which you can watch for free. Believe me, both Ezra and Alli are very experienced and knowledgable, always willing to help you out when you get stuck.

Just contact them on their website and they will help you.

Nope. It is simply a shortcut to the actual website page. A shortcut is a path or route to a destination, not the destination itself. So in the same way, here affinity.sale is just the path to the web page, not the page itself.

The important thing is that the DNS system recognizes the domain affinity.sale, which makes it usable as a URL for anyone's web browser. Exactly what happens when you use that URL is not really relevant. It's much like "affinity.store" or "affinity.help", which are valid as URLs but which will end up going someplace else. The user doesn't really care.

Really? If I enter affinity.sale in my browser it takes me to the Rebrandly web page like in the screenshot above, not to anything related to AffinityRevolution itself.

No, but if you had a URL to a page on affinity.sale it would work. DNS with get the browser to the Rebrandly sure which will redirect to AffinityRevolution.

You're not supposed to worry about how that works.
