Raphael Bonelli Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 In the last weeks, Affinity Photo is simply crashing a lot... not freezes, no alerts, no info... the app just closes and vanishes. I've been using Windows 11, with all GPU rendering disabled (it freezes all the time with GPU rendering ON). I've attached the last crashlog (i have a lot of those now ) hope it helps. ce8cf891-67c9-4eb3-9ca6-bb99aab0ea78.dmp Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 20, 2022 Staff Posted April 20, 2022 Hi @raphaelbonelli, Could you provide a screenshot of your current settings in Preferences > Performance? Does the crash occur when performing a specific workflow? I would suggest first resetting your application to it's default settings by following the below. Close down Photo From your desktop, Hold down Ctrl and double click on Photo whilst still holding down Ctrl This should prompt a new menu 'Clear user data' with three boxes ticked, press 'Clear' at the bottom right hand corner Load Photo back up and confirm if this has made any improvement Quote
Raphael Bonelli Posted April 20, 2022 Author Posted April 20, 2022 Hi Nathan! Thanks for the answer. I've attached the print of the Preferences > Performance before reseting settings. I'll try to reset to check for improvment. Quote
Raphael Bonelli Posted April 20, 2022 Author Posted April 20, 2022 Tried to reset the setting of Affinity Photo, and now I just can't use it anymore. It opens... and some seconds later simply vanish, no crashlog created. Tried to restart Windows, reset settings again, but still closing seconds after opening. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 20, 2022 Staff Posted April 20, 2022 If you're having issues opening Photo, this may relate to faulty/out of date graphics card drivers, I would advise following the below: Download Display Driver uninstaller, using the tool completely uninstall your GPU driver and reboot https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Re-install your GPU drivers from Nvidia's website https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/drivers/ Reboot again and try going back into Photo Quote
RichardMH Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Nvidia has a clean install option. Might be worth trying that before Display Driver Uninstaller. Quote
Raphael Bonelli Posted April 26, 2022 Author Posted April 26, 2022 In the end, trying to run DDDU crashed my Windows 11 and I couldn't login anymore (Pin not found error). Had to format my PC and reinstall everything. At least, Affinity Photo seems to be running OK now. Thanks Nathan and Richard for all the attention! Quote
