Furry Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I am confused by the various profiles offered in the effects dialog for bevel and emboss and none of them seem to give me the result I want.. What I want is to give a rule a rounded look so that it gives the appearance of a rounded rod lying on the page. Is that possible? walt.farrell Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 It would help to have an example image showing what you want. Furry Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Thanks for the very prompt reply walt. This is the sort of thing I am looking for. This was done in Photoshop. I am not altrogether happy with it as i wanted a morew rounded appearance. But it is headed in the right direction. Quote Main machine is 2024 24" iMac running Sequoia 15.2 with 8GB of RAM. Furry Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Oh. Sorry. I dragged a .jpg file to where it says "drag files here to attach" and it showed a little image of it so i assujed it was attached. This time I will use the "choose file/s" option. I think what I did wrong was to click the little cross on the shown image. I thought I was closing the view and evidently I was deleting the image. walt.farrell Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Sorry, but I'm still not sure exactly what you want. That image doesn't show enough context (area around the object). But if it's something like this, it's just a line with a thick stroke and and Round Cap ends. Furry Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 That is strange. When I look at the forum page, it shows my uploaded bar in full colour whereas yours, as you describe, is just a thick (black) stroke with round cap ends. I will attach a screen shot of that part of the page. I don't know why it has increased the size. My picture has square ends and, of course, I could round them, which would no doubt help. But I want to give the appearance of three dimensions. Quote Main machine is 2024 24" iMac running Sequoia 15.2 with 8GB of RAM. Furry Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 Yes! That looks great! I could handle the rounded corners and the drop shadow but how do I get the light and shade giving it depth? carl123 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Add a rounded rectangle Add a gradient fill using Gradient Tool from top to bottom using a grey to black gradient Set FX Bevel / Emboss as shown (values may vary depending on your size of rectangle) Adjust corner radius of rectangle as required (There is no separate shadow layer, that comes from the Bevel / Emboss FX) Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
