Export not working

Export and Save As.. have stopped working. The usual first dialogue box appears fine, but when Export is selected the dialogue disappears and nothing is saved. Previously the save location dialogue appeared but now nothing. The same error occurs on all files and for all file types. Save still works, so files can be saved, but only as .afphoto types. As I have several jobs requiring export this is causing huge problems - can't even send files to clients for approval!

I have tried re-installing Photo (v1.10.5), but the error persists.

MacBook Pro with M1 running Monterey (12.0.1)

Hi - a couple of files sent, although it fails to export any file of any size so the actual file is immaterial. Is it possible to downgrade to an earlier version of Photo for a few days as it always worked previously and things are getting a bit desperate now?

Can you still use the application after you press the Export button or does it stop working?
I only ask as the application may be waiting for some user action in a dialog which is ‘off-screen’ – can happen if you have more than one screen but only have one currently in use.

Hi Garry. The app continues to work fine after. The dialogue closes and it continues as normal. Same happens with single screen as dual screens.

Just in case it's relevant, Export still works fine in Publisher and Designer.

Ah, oh well, shame that wasn’t a ‘quick fix’. (It’s something which pops up every now and again so I thought I’d mention it.)
I’ll let DWright (and others) continue the thread as I'm not a Mac user.

Until this is solved, could you open the file in one of the other apps ("edit in") and export from there?

Hi - yes, I've been opening files in Designer, then exporting from there. Bit of a pain though.

Obviously not a permanent solution, but at least you can keep your clients happy for now! 👍

Actually worse than I thought as new files that weren't .afphoto to start with won't save at all! By that I mean if I open a .jpg for instance and alter it, then try to save, it won't save as any file type.

Temporary fix to the problem: Using Time Machine (on Mac) I re-installed the previous version of Photo and now Export and Save work fine again.
