PaoloT Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Hi, Mac Mojave here. I can't apply filters (and other types of edit) to unsaved files. 1. Grab a screenshot, and paste it into a new AfPhoto document. 2. Make a selection in the newly created image. 3. Try to apply a filter (to the selection, or the layer). I can't. 4. If saving and reopening the document, everything start working again. Paolo Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 After step 1, you probably have an (Image) layer. Look in the Layers panel to see that. At step 2, you can make a Selection, but at step 3 you cannot work on it, as you need a (Pixel) layer for the Selection to have any meaning. You will need to Rasterize your (Image) layer to make it a (Pixel) layer. You can use the menu, Layer > Rasterize, or you can right-click on it in the Layers panel and choose Rasterize. However, That wouldn't explain why you can't apply a filter to the complete layer; and It doesn't explain why Saving and reopening would help, so I'm still a bit confused, and possibly something else is happening. Staff stokerg Posted April 19, 2022 Staff Posted April 19, 2022 Hi @PaoloT, Not something i can replicate here on the same OS. Could you attach a screen recording of your complete workflow, making sure the Layers Panel is viewable at all times. To record your screen, see here Quote

I'm sure it was not this, since I tried rasterizing as a first effort to solve the issue. Funny that now I have the filters available, with a non-rasterized Image layer! Paolo Quote
