No idea what I have done but ...

I have been picking colours, assigning them and using them without any problems. This morning I created a custom brush and used that to paint in some detail.

Since then I have not been able to assign a colour to the paintbrush, it permanently has the custom brush assigned.

I have deleted the custom brush, I have restarted Photo.

I have reset Photo.

I have re-installed Photo.

I have created a  new document, try and pick a colour but that brush is still there.

All of the above and I still cannot get rid of that **** custom brush.

I will re-start the machine (as suggested) when a long sql update has completed.

I suspect I am missing something fundamental here as I  haven't done much with Affinity to date?

Thank you Garry - I have just had a quiet weep in the corner and now realise the association between the "brushes" and "paintbrush". I guess, I have been using the default brush on the edits to date without realising it!

Many thanks once again, Ian

You’re welcome.
It’s worth noting that, in some cases, some of the Brush tools  ‘share’ brushes and some may not.
For example, by default (I think), the Paint Brush Tool shares the same brush as the Colour Replacement Brush Tool but the Paint Mixer Brush Tool and Undo Brush Tool don’t.
This behaviour can be changed via the Assistant Manager – Brush Tool Sharing.

I really must take the time to learn this suite, I bought the books after all. It's always the same for the occasional user, it takes us years to learn the basics.

Cheers, Ian

You and me both – I’m still very much a novice when it comes to many areas of this functionality-rich software suite.
