pen/node tool option to add a node to a path directly beneath

Recommended Posts

Often when overlapping or intersecting paths, we must pause or revisit a point on our path which overlaps another to add a node to it at the exact same position. This is a process that is exaggerated in affinity due to the absence of a vector flood fill tool, as we must break and join paths at points of intersection to achieve consistent fills.

The idea would be to add functionality to the pen and node tool, which ideally could be toggled or accessed via a modifier key (on click), that would add a node to both the current path and the one we are intersecting or overlapping beneath. This may even be the same path.

When combined with the "add new curve to selected curves" option, this would somewhat mimick Figma's "vector networks", whereby nodes can have more than 2 paths. A marquee node selection at a point of intersection would select all nodes on every overlapping path, allowing you to easily reposition that point of intersection. The difference would be in modifying any node handles, which would need to be done on each path separately, instead of at a single node, as with vector networks.

thanks
