Guest Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Occasionally I end up having to work on my laptop without a large secondary display (oh, the horror). Every time I create a new document in the Affinity apps I have to move various panels (or studios?) around in order to actually interact with the new document window (see image below). I would expect it to be displayed over top of all windows and panels, or perhaps even temporary hide them until the dialog is dismissed. Quote

Pšenda Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Yes, it shouldn't - but until it's fixed, don't have to move the panels all the time. Personally, I never understood the meaning of Separate mode. I use Normal mode, where the panels are docked, so I don't have this problem with overlapping dialogs. Guest Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I use normal mode, but I do keep a few panels that I use often floating for easier access as I find the permanently fixed side panels/studios/whatever fill up fast and you spend lots of time toggling them open and closed. Separated mode feels like a throw-back to another time. Years ago Mac apps used to have this multiple window mode as the default, but most apps moved to a single main window around the time of the Microsoft ribbon, and the big Adobe UI update after the Macromedia acquisition. It’s odd that Serif even bothered to add it. Quote
